It’s been a long year.
If you’re anything like my family, almost every weekend has been booked. Not just kids’ activities—but friends, family gatherings, yard work, home maintenance… all the life stuff. It adds up quickly. Before you know it, you’re busy all the time and rested almost never.
Somewhere along the way, rest became a word associated with being lazy or unambitious. Like slowing down means you’re falling behind.
I don’t believe that.
I’ll be honest—I’m at the burnout stage. Burned out from work. Burned out from ministry. Burned out from the daily toils of trying to help move a community toward a more pure, Christ-centered relationship with one another through the saving grace of Jesus.
And that’s okay to admit.
This season for us is a rest season. A family vacation season. Intentional family time. My employer—truly the best around in my opinion, Duncan’s Window & Door—understands that life isn’t always about pursuing money. Building a family legacy matters more.
So we’re taking a chunk of time.
Intentional time.
Unrushed time.
Yes, we’ll spoil ourselves a little.
But the goal of this vacation is simple:rest.
If you’re feeling burned out—mentally, physically, spiritually, or emotionally—this post is for you.
Take the time.
Slow down.
Rest deeply.
Spoil yourself a little without guilt.
And remember: nothing is more important than your relationship with Jesus and your family.
Grace and peace to you in this season
